Requirements / Qualifications
The Vacancy: There is one 8 hours a day, 11 months, open position at an Elementary site. This recruitment will also be used to fill future vacancies and substitute/temporary positions in this classification for up to six months. The Position: Positions allocated to this class are typically assigned to an Assistant Director, Coordinator, Program Specialist, Elementary Principal, Middle School Principal, High School Principal, or equivalent level administrator. Positions are usually assigned a wide variety of secretarial and clerical tasks, which require a general knowledge of the District and an extensive knowledge of a specific District-wide office or program. Examples of duties include: Type a variety of correspondence; establish and maintain complex, interrelated filing systems and records; review and check documents, records, and related forms for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to applicable rules and regulations; give out information in person or by telephone where judgment, knowledge, and interpretation of policies, and regulations are necessary; receive visitors, set up appointments, screen visitors and telephone calls, and refer to appropriate staff members.
Required Qualifications: Must have two years of clerical and secretarial experience. Knowledge of: modern office practices and procedures; correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; modern filing and indexing methods; principles of letter and report writing; basic methods used in financial and statistical record keeping; organization, functions, rules, procedures, and programs of the department or office where assigned; basic computer skills; office machines and equipment; and must type at a minimum rate of 45 net words per minute. Selection Procedure: The selection process will consist of a written exam and a qualifications appraisal interview (each weighted 50%). The following must be submitted with the edjoin application:
