Early Childhood Music Specialist

Creative Arts Therapies Department

Classification: Part Time Hourly (12-15 hours weekly) with growth potential

Start Date: February 2025

Position Summary:  Functioning as a member of the Creative Arts Therapies team, the early childhood music specialist will serve primarily individuals ages 0-7 in general education and/or inclusive early childhood settings. Assignments include placement in agencies throughout Northeast Ohio region as well as possible programming at Beck Center for the Arts. Regular programming for early childhood takes place on various weekday mornings.

 Responsibilities:

Specialist’s primary responsibility includes the design and implementation of early childhood music enrichment programs (ages 0-7) both in the community and at Beck Center. Paid time is given for planning and preparation of materials for sessions. 

Specialist may also have the opportunity to be a part of various one-time community arts programs with both early childhood and grades K-5.

Specialist may have the opportunity to substitute for early childhood music enrichment programs at Beck Center for the Arts (mainly afternoon and evening) as needed.

 Qualifications:

·         Bachelor degree in Music Therapy or related music field preferred.

·         Licensed Professional Music Therapist (LPMT)/Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) preferred.

Minimum of 1 year experience leading early childhood music sessions in a community based program.

Experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook preferred.

Excellent organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines.

·         Flexibility, creativity, and dedication to serving the needs of program participants

·         Flexibility of schedule (to be discussed at time of interview).

Pay Rate: $20-$30 hourly commensurate with experience.
