Project Finance Intern

Open opportunity:  Finance Intern 

Reporting to: Asset and Monitoring Manager 

Based in: Washington D.C.  

 

Schedule 

Part-time (3-days / week) and full time (5-days / week) for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 

Full-time Summer 2025 (5-days / week) 
 

The selected intern will support a range of asset monitoring and finance activities for large-scale solar energy and battery projects from construction to project operations. 

 

What will you do? 

  • Assist in monitoring and controlling each asset's compliance with contractual obligations contained in project and finance agreements, with close collaboration from X-Elio's Operations and Maintenance (O&M), Revenue Management, Tax, Accounting, Insurance, Legal, Markets, and Controlling teams.   
     
  • Support in the day-to-day relationship manager for operating assets with external stakeholders, including tax equity investors, lenders, project advisors, and regulators. Assist in producing lender and tax equity reporting deliverables including budgets, quarterly operation reports, operating model updates, DSCR certificates, waterfall reports, and financial statement packages.    
     
  • Support and assist in tracking payments for O&M expenses, distributions, and debt service under operating budgets, depositary, and tax equity waterfall agreements.
  • Support Asset Manager with the commercial transition of projects post-closing to Asset Management, including pre-COD mobilization, contract administration, and compliance. Review project agreements and prepare compliance checklists for entry into X-Elio’s asset management software platform.
  • Perform other finance and commercial activities as requested by the Senior Director Finance, including collaborative activities with development, finance, markets, O&M, and construction teams.

What do we need? 

  • Graduate degree in business, finance, or related fields; undergraduate students with relevant work experience may be considered
  • Demonstrated interest in renewable energy through work experience, projects, or coursework.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven analytical skills.
  • High degree of attention to detail and well-organized.
  • Intro level knowledge of how project finance deals are structured.
