4th Grade Teacher

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES: 
Plan, evaluate, and effectively teach lessons 
Prepare, administer, and grade tests, listen to oral presentations, and maintain classroom discipline 
Teach bible, math, language, science, history, grammar, spelling, literature, and social studies (grades k – 4 are self-contained 
Use a variety of instructional strategies 
Plan learning experiences which maximize instructional time 
Effectively manage the classroom via strong classroom procedures and policies 
Use play and hands-on teaching 
Develop a love for learning in students 
Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed 
Create projects designed to enhance lectures 
Read and stay abreast of current topics in education 
Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction 
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities 
Prepare and distribute required reports 
Observe and evaluate student’s performance 
Participate in curriculum development programs as required 
Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures 
Agree with the core values, statement of faith, and mission statement of Shepherd Christian School 
Prepare weekly communication with parents 
Evaluate student progress and prepare report cards 
Plan field trips and accompany students 
Communicate effectively with parents in a variety of forms (email, conferences, etc.) 
Develop and maintain a pro-growth mindset in classical and Christian education 
Identify student’s needs and cooperate with other staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning challenges 
Lead students to develop spiritually and academically 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Month Position 
Salary Faculty Schedule 
EVALUATION: Annually, by the Upper Grades Principal

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: 
Bachelor’s degree in education, master’s degree preferred 
Maintain a positive, highly efficient, organized, professional and confidential manner of job execution 
Knowledge and practical experience regarding basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office 
Born again Christian who knows the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior (John 3:3, 1 Peter 1:23) Views the Bible as the only inerrant, infallible, and inspired Word of God. (II Timothy 3:16). High moral character and good attendance record 
Physical Requirements: 
Stand for long periods of time 
Physical ability to meet demands of teaching young children 
Speak clearly so listeners can understand 
Use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects 
Use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired 
REPORTS TO: Upper School Principal 
POSITION OVERVIEW:  Responsible for fostering the intellectual and social development of children in the first phase of their elementary school experience.  Provides the tools and the environment for students to develop and grow.
