Research Technologist 2/3
We are seeking a Research Technologist to assist our work studying animal models of refractory seizure disorders. This position could be a fantastic opportunity for an applicant that is interested in a research or medical career, has some training in the lab, and really wants to make a substantial contribution to a project, and to get on research papers.
Job duties
- Maintaining zebrafish and mouse colonies
- PCR genotyping and Sanger sequencing analysis
- Generating novel zebrafish knock-out and/or knock-down lines through microinjection of CRISPR/Cas9 or other reagents
- Running assays (electrophysiology, behavioral/morphology, calcium fluorescence microscopy) to measure seizure activity, and the response to pharmacological or genetic manipulation
- Maintaining and ordering supplies for the laboratory
Minimum requirements
- BA in life sciences or similar
- Excellent organizational skills and detail-orientation
- Self-starter who can work independently, but works well in a team environment
- 1 year of molecular biology lab experience (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, genotyping, etc).
- 1+ years research experience (in any domain)
- A cover letter detailing your background, interest in the lab, and career plans is required
Preferred
- Experience working with animals (zebrafish, and/or mouse)
- Demonstrated interest in neuroscience or neurology
- Desire to contribute to scientific manuscripts
- Desire to pursue a career in research or medicine
- 2 year commitment
