Summer Intern - Research
Overview
The Insmed Summer Internship Program gives students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a corporate environment in the pharmaceutical industry, receive mentoring from highly skilled professionals, and work on dynamic team projects. Our 12-week 2025 Summer Intern program is a full-time (40 hours per week), paid internship. The internship may present opportunities for rotational assignments within the function, and the intern will be assigned goals and objectives that will support the strategic business plan of the company.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Conduct experiments and analyze data under the supervision of a lead scientist.
- Design and execute experiments to test hypotheses and analyze data to support conclusions.
- Assist in drug discovery research by characterizing small molecules using various in-vitro assays.
- Involve in the evaluation of compound effects on cellular responses using various techniques in cell and molecular biology, such as mammalian cell culture, FACS, western blotting, ELISA or qPCR.
- Analyze data using appropriate software, interpret the results, and prepare detailed reports.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely records of all experiments.
- Actively participate in meetings and discussions, contributing to research insights.
- Demonstrate strong scientific curiosity, along with solid presentation, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Requirements:
- Genuine interest in pursuing a career in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in molecular biology, immunology, medical science, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of cell and molecular biology, as well as immunology is a plus.
- Hands-on experience in one or more of the following techniques is a must: mammalian cell culture, FACS, ELISA, western blotting, immunostaining, microscopy, or image analysis.
- Experience with data processing, analysis, statistics, and data interpretation is a plus.
- A high degree of organization and time management skills are required.
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively and efficiently in a team environment, is essential.
- The ability to successfully engage in a dynamic and culturally diverse workplace is a must.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is a must.

Salary Range
$25 - $35 an hour
