About the Opportunity
Are you a creative and driven designer passionate about gaming, esports, and education? Join our dynamic team and contribute to the branding and style of the Global Scholastic Esports League (GSEL)! Launched by The Huggins Foundation DBA The Young Talons, GSEL integrates education with esports, creating a platform that empowers students worldwide through gaming and learning.
This internship or volunteer role is perfect for someone eager to showcase their design skills while creating unique jerseys, swag, t-shirts, and memorabilia that reflect our league's educational and competitive spirit.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build your portfolio in a highly creative environment. The position will begin on a trial basis, with 30 noncontiguous hours over the course of 60 business days, ensuring a mutual fit and productive collaboration.
In this role, you’ll have the chance to make a real impact on the identity and merchandising of GSEL, with the possibility of a long-term partnership as we expand globally.
Role Overview
Key Responsibilities:
As a Design Intern/Volunteer, you will:
- Design esports jerseys, t-shirts, and other swag for players and fans.
- Create layouts and mockups for a variety of memorabilia and merchandise.
- Collaborate with our team to brainstorm design concepts that align with GSEL's mission of combining education and esports.
- Maintain the league's aesthetic and ensure visual consistency across all merchandise.
- Prepare designs for production, liaising with printers and vendors to ensure quality results.
Essential Skills and Expertise:
Graphic Design and Merchandising:
- Proficiency in design tools like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Canva.
- Strong understanding of typography, color theory, and composition.
- Ability to create dynamic, esports-themed designs that captivate fans and highlight educational themes.
Creative Thinking and Collaboration:
- Ability to generate unique design concepts and adapt feedback into polished work.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Project Management:
- Organized and able to manage multiple design tasks simultaneously.
- Timeliness in delivering designs and meeting production deadlines.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience in esports or gaming-related design.
- Knowledge of print production processes (screen printing, embroidery, sublimation, etc.).
- Familiarity with esports league branding and merchandising trends.
