Social Media and Marketing Intern

The Twin Cities In Motion (TCM) Internships serve as part of a high caliber team that plan and execute the region’s premier running events.

 

TCM is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit that hosts world-class running events. We offer event platforms that invite everyone to experience the love of moving, whether you are a participant, supporter, spectator, or part of the community.

 

Job Responsibilities

The Social Media and Marketing Intern is a part-time position that assists with the execution of social media content, customer service and website and TCM app administration. This position will report to the Social Media & Digital Engagement Manager.

 

  • Manage social media customer service
  • Stay up to date with social media trends and create graphics, assets, and campaigns in response
  • Assist in development and execution of social media strategies
  • Draft, manage and monitor social media campaigns for various audiences using appropriate tone and branding 
  • Track and report website and social media analytics
  • Draft and edit TCM app content 
  • Assist with TCM website edits 
  • Help design community and event marketing outreach strategies including booth staffing, materials, logistics and messaging
  • Support brainstorming and execution of tactics to meet marketing and experience team goals
  • Coordinate special projects and assist in office tasks as directed

 

Job Qualifications

  • Seeking creative, energized and motivated individual 
  • Excellent customer service skills (social media/email/in person)
  • Must be a self-starter who can work independently 
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must display high attention to detail and be conscientious
  • Able to prioritize and work in a busy, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Serve as a knowledgeable and approachable TCM Ambassador at events, in the community and through requested outreach
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office & Canva
  • Experience with video creation is a plus
  • Ability to regularly lift weights for events up to 25 lbs. and occasionally weights up to 40 lbs.
  • Desire to be a team player – working with staff, volunteers and event participants
  • Must be available to attend and work at 2025 TCM events including Hot Dash (March 22), Get In Gear (April 26), Women Run the Cities (May 17), Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend (Oct 3-5), and Turkey Day 5K (November 27).

 

Position Duration: January – December 2025

 

Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday office hours, TCM events and other community outreach requests (to be mutually agreed upon)

 

Hours Per Week:  typically, 15 hours per week; increase in hours available for certain event weeks

 

Compensation: $16.50/hour
