This role encompasses comprehensive management of our facility, with a focus on refining processes, logistics, and business development. The General Manager will play a critical part in driving operational excellence, maximizing production efficiency, and supporting the growth of our business in the fats and oils sector.
For over 75 years, Valley Products has been transforming all grades of fats, oils, and fatty acids into a diverse range of finished products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Refinery Management: Oversee all aspects of fats and oils refinery operations, ensuring high standards in quality control, efficiency, and safety. Develop and implement best practices in refining processes to maximize output and minimize downtime.
- Logistics Coordination: Manage the transportation and logistics of fats and oils, including coordination with trucking and rail shipment services. Ensure smooth, timely delivery across the supply chain, optimizing routes and costs while adhering to regulatory standards.
- Chemical Processing Oversight: Supervise the chemical processing stages within the refinery to ensure compliance with industry regulations and quality benchmarks. Drive continuous improvement in processing techniques to enhance product quality.
- Business Development: Identify growth opportunities within the fats and oils industry, including partnerships, market expansion, and client acquisition. Develop strategies for entering new markets and expanding product offerings, aligning with overall business goals.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation. Build and develop the team's skills to support ongoing refinery improvements and business objectives.
- Financial and Operational Reporting: Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for refinery operations. Monitor performance metrics and prepare reports for senior leadership, highlighting key insights and recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, Business Management, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
- Some experience in fats and oils refinery management, including a background in chemical processing and supply chain logistics.
- Experience in business development and driving operational efficiency in a manufacturing or refinery environment.
- knowledge of trucking and rail shipment logistics, with an understanding of regulatory requirements in the fats and oils industry.
- Exceptional communication, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams.
