Department Supervisor 1
Purpose/Description
The Department Supervisor 1 will be assigned to one of multiple positions. The Department Supervisor 1 may assist the Immunizations/Vaccines For Children team at the Health Department as it relates to compliance standards and general administrative support. This includes assisting with vaccine orders, transportation of vaccines to/from provider offices, preparing vaccine for transport, assisting with inventory and vaccine ordering. Duties also include proper storage and handling of vaccinations. A Department Supervisor 1 may work in the Communicable Disease Program, providing administrative support, assistance with case follow-up, assisting during outbreaks of illnesses, and gathering and processing reportable information. This employee will provide training/guidance to schools/medical providers/staff as it relates to reporting communicable diseases. The Department Supervisor 1 may work in School Immunizations Program to ensure all schools and childcares in Out-Wayne County meet compliancy standards with immunization reporting as required by Public Health Code. Duties include data input, verification, and providing guidance to staff at various locations throughout the jurisdiction and remotely. This position will also function as clerical support at field /community immunization events.
Responsibilities
Required Tasks
- Duties will vary depending on the role:
- Administrative support including report processing, data input, customer service
- Ensure proper use of VFC vaccine
- Prepare vaccine for provider distribution and community events, as needed
- Assist with proper vaccine storage and handling as specified by MDHHS/CDC VFC regulations
- Monitor, download info, and coordinate equipment maintenance for vaccine refrigerators, freezers, and other storage equipment (thermometers, digital data loggers, Sensaphones, AC unit, etc.)
- Obtain reports from providers, schools, childcares, or the public, process and/or triage for appropriate follow-up
- Assist with outbreaks of illnesses/infections
- Assist with school/childcare immunization reporting requirements
- Assist in providing onsite and remote training to end-users at schools and childcares for immunization reporting

Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED
Experience Requirements
- At least four (4) years of full-time paid administrative experience including public-facing role/responsibilities.
- Experience working in healthcare field preferred.
- Experience working with immunizations (clinic, health center) preferred.
- Must have valid Michigan Drivers' license.
- Must have reliable transportation.
