Upper School Makerspace Engineering and AP Computer Science Educator
Isidore Newman School seeks a talented, dynamic Upper School Makerspace, Engineering and AP Computer Science educator to serve as a long-term substitute teacher for the spring semester (January 6 to June 6, 2025). Qualified applicants will hold a degree in either science, mathematics, computer science or a closely related field, with prior teaching experience at the high school level preferred. Candidates must be skilled in forging strong relationships with students and families, while holding students to the traditional high academic standards characteristic of Newman's program.
This position is anticipated to last from January 6 to June 5, 2025.
A student-centered approach is at the heart of the Newman educational program, so teachers embracing this philosophy will be a good fit. Instructors who emphasize problem solving strategies will be given priority, and demonstrated expertise in teaching regular and honors students, along with strong proficiency with technology appropriate to the classroom, are integral to this role. Additional duties and roles within the Upper School, including acting as an advisor, will be elements of this position, so a desire to be an active member of the school community outside the classroom is critical as well.
