About the Position: The City of Phoenix Water Services Department (WSD) Technology Services Division (TSD) is seeking enthusiastic college juniors, seniors, and recent graduates for a Business Engagement internship opportunity. Interns will gain foundational knowledge in technology-driven business strategy, financial planning, project management, and stakeholder collaboration. This is an excellent chance to learn from experienced professionals, bridging the gap between technology and business objectives, and building skills critical for future roles in business engagement and IT strategy.
This compensated internship offers a flexible schedule ranging from 20 to 40 hours per week based on the candidate's availability and department needs. Interns will receive mentorship and hands-on training, contributing to impactful technology initiatives and acquiring skills in business analysis, project planning, and communication.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support senior Business Engagement Specialists in identifying and understanding departmental business needs.
- Assist in conducting assessments of the department’s current and desired future state, recommending potential improvements and solutions.
- Collaborate with business leaders and stakeholders on project requirements and scope, supporting strategic initiatives.
- Gain exposure to financial management, including budget development, financial forecasting, and capital improvement planning.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as the preparation of Business Investment Request Forms, contracts, and financial reports.
- Shadow seasoned professionals during meetings and gain experience with vendor relationships, project documentation, and business communications.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and departmental policies.
Qualifications:
- Strong interest in business strategy, financial planning, and technology-driven initiatives.
- Eagerness to learn and engage with various stakeholders, including technical and non-technical teams.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly and contribute to team-based projects.
- Enrollment in or completion of a degree program in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Basic familiarity with financial planning concepts, business analysis, or SAP Enterprise software (a plus, but not required).
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team environment and manage tasks effectively.
This internship is fully onsite, requiring physical presence to work with team members.

This is a paid internship program with a flexible schedule, offering 20 to 40 hours per week.
