Christel House Schools is accepting applications for an Administrative Assistant. Christel House Schools is a growing network of high performing charter schools dedicated to serving low-income, urban students in Indianapolis.
FLSA: Full-Time; Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB SUMMARY:
This position provides support to the principals by performing a variety of administrative functions required for the operation of the campus and instructional school programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Answer telephones and give information to callers, take messages, or transfer calls to appropriate individuals.
- Create, maintain, and enter information into Powerschool.
- Operate office equipment, such as fax machines, copiers, or phone systems and arrange for repairs when equipment malfunctions.
- Greet visitors or callers and handle their inquiries or direct them to the appropriate persons according to their needs.
- Maintain scheduling and event calendars.
- Conduct searches to find needed information, using sources as the Internet.
- Mail newsletters, promotional material, or other information.
- Collect monies for items such as uniforms.
- Compile and maintain student records.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Pull reports or files as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective operations of the schools.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree or college credit hours equivalent to an Associate’s degree.
- Proficient typing skills, including computer proficiency with Office products and web based programs, including extensive data entry.
- Spanish language skills (spoken and written) preferred.
- Strong English grammar skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Evidence of a strong work ethic and high degree of organizational skills.
- An agreement with the mission statement and goals of Christel House Schools
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- Ability to look at a computer for long periods of time
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
