Internship Opportunity
POSITION: USGA P.J. Boatwright Jr. Digital Communications Internship – Golf Association of Michigan
LENGTH: Six months (April 15 – October 15); Start and end dates flexible based on school schedule
HOURS: 40 Hours per Week
LOCATION: The Golf Association of Michigan’s office – Farmington Hills, Mich.
ABOUT THE GAM: The Golf Association of Michigan, founded in 1919, is the governing body for amateur golf in the state. As a not-for-profit organization, our purpose is to represent, promote, preserve, and serve the best interests of the game.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The selected candidate will be exposed to many different facets of a state golf associations with an emphasis in video production, communications, and social media. A balance of time will be spent on-site at events and championships and in the Association’s office. This position will also include exposure to course rating and other GAM membership activities.
JOB DUTIES:
- Support GAM Director of Communications and Media Consultant on site at championships (travel to events required)
- Create and share content daily on social media
- Assist in production of annual Michigan Links Magazine
- Coordinate onsite registration for the Drive, Chip and Putt Local Qualifiers with Michigan PGA
- Generate content for GAM member and club newsletters, website and blogs
- Develop marketing materials and campaigns for GAM Membership and GAM Foundation
- Assist on site at GAM Foundation Fundraisers
- Committee involvement with GAM Communications, Diversity & Inclusion and Member Relations Committees
- Participate in Course Rating with GAM Volunteers
REQUIREMENTS:
- A college degree or currently enrolled in college
- Experience with graphic design or design platforms
- Interest in golf administration
- Knowledge of social media platforms
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Prior golf tournament experience a plus
- Dependable automotive transportation
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- A growth mindset and willingness to learn
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt
- Ability to work in team environment and independently
BENEFITS:
- Compensation – Stipend paid by USGA
- All out of the office expenses will be covered by the GAM (Meals, Mileage, etc.)
