Accounting/Finance Intern
The Facility Management department at the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury is looking an Accounting/Finance intern. The Police Jury is the local government agency that serves all of Calcasieu parish, and Facility Management has projects across the parish at over 200 sites that we manage or insure.
The Accounting team has a structured learning plan for interns. This internship will be for 2 years and the expected job duties for each year will be:
- First year: Focus on clerical duties, invoice processing, basic accounting functions.
- Second year: More advanced duties, analytical analysis, report generation and presentation.
ESSENTIAL CLASS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manages minor projects in assigned area of responsibility.
- Researches, analyzes, and documents solutions in an independent and timely manner.
- Collaborates to create documents and/or programs.
- Prepares and assists with presentations.
- Participates in team meetings and brainstorming sessions.
- Shadows employees and managers to gain professional experience.
- Managing minor projects in assigned area of responsibility.
- Files documents alphabetically, numerically, or by other prescribed methods in established filing systems.
- Prepares, reviews, and/or processes a variety of correspondence, logs, information, paperwork, invoices, forms, and/or other related information in assigned area of responsibility.
- Runs standard reports in assigned area of responsibility.
- Performs routine administrative tasks.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); and currently enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university pursuing an advanced degree.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Driver’s License as per State law or requirement
