Human Resources Intern

JOB SUMMARY
The Human Resources Intern will gain exposure to a variety of human resources practices both on an everyday basis and as a long-term overall understanding of the industry. The Human Resources Intern will support HR activites to include but not limited to onboarding, filing / record keeping, and compliance.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Supports the onboarding process by maintaining employee records, tracking trainings, providing orientation, answering questions, badge setup, and I-9 completion.
  • Supports employee recognition events and service awards that could include scheduling and executing tasks associated with such events
  • Assists in the open enrollment process and prepare all necessary documents
  • Provides excellent customer service to current employees and answers questions related to employment and company policy
  • HR Projects: supporting HR projects and initiatives, such as employee engagement initiatives
  • Assisting with HR data management, such as, creating reports, and maintaining employee records
  • Participating in HR projects related to compliance and risk management, such as conducting research on employment laws and regulations, preparing policies and procedures, and assisting with audits
  • Assisting with HR communication initiatives, such as preparing HR newsletters
  • Conducting HR-related research and analysis, such as researching HR best practices, analyzing employee engagement data, and preparing reports on HR metrics.
  • Provides reporting to support the HR function to include headcount reports and attendance tracking etc.
  • Auditing Data Integrity by utilizing reports out of the HR ERP system.
  • Provides Front Desk coverage as needed
  • Additional tasks as assigned by manager

 
 
PRINCIPAL CONTACTS INSIDE/OUTSIDE THE COMPANY
This position interacts with a variety of positions within the company.  The position will have regular contact with both supervisors and shop employees.

  • Ability to build strong business relationships
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Available 15-20 hours per week

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Must currently be enrolled in a Bachelors or graduate level program
  • Minimum sophomore level standing
  • 3.2 GPA or higher desired

 
EQUIPMENT USED
This position will use a computer, fax machine, scanner and projector.
WORKING AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
This position will be in an indoor office, often sitting with occasional visits to the shop floor.
