As a Sales & Event Coordinator Intern, you will:
- Gain first-hand sales knowledge working with clients on the different Hornblower Cruises and Events brand experiences in Chicago.
- Learn the basics of business communication and professional conduct.
- Develop your communication, organization and time-management skills as well as strengthen your self-confidence
- Address all questions and concerns for booked clients
- Finalize client bookings by securing final payments and event logistics
- Work side by side with Account Managers & Event Coordinators
- Work directly with clients on their event details, schedule of events & logistics
- Participate in Meet and Greet sessions with the Executive Team Members and various Corporate Directors
- Create unforgettable memories with every sale you make!
Essential Functions:
Sales/Client Services
- Utilize learned “Sales Skills” to explain products or services and prices, and answer questions from guests on every call
- Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally
- Obtain guest information and accurately enter orders into reservation systems
- Deliver prepared sales talks in order to finalize events
- Other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor on duty

Accountabilities:
The successful Sales & Event Coordinator Intern will personally contribute to the unforgettable guest experience, be favorably viewed by supervisors and peers, and be swift and efficient in the execution of their assigned duties.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Must be earning an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Public Relations, Communications, Hospitality, Tourism Management or any Business related field—candidates earning their Bachelor’s should preferably be in their sophomore, junior or senior year
- Must have a minimum of one (1) year guest service experience; call center/reservation experience a plus
• Must have strong interpersonal skills
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills – expression and comprehension
• Must be reliable, responsible, punctual and dependable
• Must be available to work 30-40 hours per week, including required weekend availability; schedule is subject to change weekly according to operational needs
• Must possess a service orientation
• Required to use computers and computer applications such as Microsoft Office
• Must be careful about details and thorough in completing tasks
• Must deal calmly and effectively with high-stress situations
