Human Resources Associate
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Human Resources (HR) Associate is responsible for the day-to-day human resource operations. This includes analyzing current and necessary policies and procedures in order to monitor company operations and set standards for future endeavors and compliance within federal, state and local labor-related laws.
REPORTING
The HR Associate reports to the company Controller and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This position also works alongside the Regional Manager and property management team in their human resource issues and activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Answer all incoming calls directed to the HR department.
2. Handle all employment application processing and screenings.
3. Perform HRIS data entry and personnel file maintenance.
4. Provide employees and management team with basic interpretation and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
5. Create and contribute to any needed new employee orientations and preparation for new hires.
6. Maintain superior level of confidentiality regarding personnel files and actions.
7. Assist management with HR related needs as required, such as job postings, onboarding, employee document processing and training.
8. Respond to employment reference checks and verifications of employment status.
9. Assist the CFO, Controller and Regional Manager with any HR projects that take place.
10. Prepare reports (as needed) for the Controller, CFO and Principals regarding HR processes, new applicable laws, compliance, and employee relation issues, and analyze the company’s current HR standing to suggest best possible avenues.
11. Execute benefits administration, payroll, new hire and termination paperwork, and light accounting duties.
12. Prepare invoices monthly for all health insurance bills.
13. Maintain and improve company initiatives for wellness programs, onboarding, workplace safety and training, etc.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The position is maintained in an office environment. There is standard use of office equipment and professionalism suited for an office environment is always expected.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is a largely sedentary role. There is some filing and record-keeping required. This would require the ability to lift files and boxes up to 15 pounds and occasional bending, standing and walking as necessary.
POSTION TYPE AND HOURS EXPECTED
The HR Associate is a full time, exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Weekend and/or evening work is possible, but rare.
TRAVEL
Travel is not a significant or normally required part of the position. Should any travel be required, it will be light in duty and centered around company sponsored events.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
A bachelor’s degree or certification in a relevant field, such as Corporate Communications, Business Administration or Human Resources is required.
At least 2 years’ relevant work experience is preferred.
