The Office of Sustainable Groundwater Management is seeking an Assistant Director to help lead the Board’s implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). SGMA was enacted in 2014 to halt groundwater overdraft and bring groundwater basins into balanced levels of pumping and recharge, ideally through local management of groundwater. The Board’s implementation will involve supporting local, regional, and statewide efforts and may involve limiting pumping, on a temporary basis, where and when found to be warranted. Implementation will have wide-reaching impacts and is a priority for the Board and the Administration. Please see the duty statement and these links:

 


This position is located at 1001 I St., Sacramento, CA 95814 and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule.

Duties:

The Supervising Engineering Geologist is responsible for assisting with directing and overseeing the Office of Sustainable Groundwater Management (Office) responsible for implementation of the State Board’s roles under the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA).

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
