Hours: Part-time, 10-15 hours per week
Duration: Spring Semester 2024, with the possibility of extension
Position Overview
McAuley Ministries is seeking a motivated and creative Social Media & Digital Marketing Intern to support our digital outreach and brand awareness efforts. This internship offers hands-on experience in content creation, social media management, and digital strategy within a non-profit setting within the human services sector.
Key Responsibilities
Website Maintenance
• Update and maintain the McAuley Ministries WordPress based website, ensuring content is engaging, current and accurately reflects our work and events.
• Support website improvements by suggesting updates to increase usability, accessibility, and search engine optimization (SEO).
Social Media Management
• Assist with the planning, creation, and scheduling of content across multiple social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
• Engage with online communities, responding to comments and messages to increase McAuley Ministries’ visibility and engagement.
• Launch and maintain a presence on LinkedIn and other appropriate platforms, tailoring content for each platform’s audience and trends.
Content Creation:
• Develop written content, graphics and video aligned with McAuley Ministries’ mission, values, and branding.
• Utilize storytelling to highlight program initiatives, volunteer opportunities, and community impact.
- Collaborate with program administrators to identify and share success stories, upcoming events, and other relevant content.
- Assist in developing a content calendar to coordinate posts across platforms and optimize for high engagement
Digital Strategy & Analytics
• Track social media metrics and provide monthly reports, analyzing data to identify successful strategies and areas for improvement.
• Research and recommend innovative ways to grow McAuley Ministries’ online presence and increase community awareness.
- Analyze social media and Google analytics to increase online engagement and website views.
Qualifications
- Current college student pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media or a related field.
- Strong background/proficiency in WordPress.
- Proficiency in managing social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) for a business and understanding of digital marketing trends.
- Experience with graphic design tools (Canva preferred) and video editing is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative, self-motivated, and detail-oriented with the ability to manage time effectively.
