ESOP 16—Intervention specialists are responsible for the education, documentation, training of staff, and data collection for students on their caseload.
MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF A BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN EDUCATION
MUST BE LICENSED TO TEACH IN THE STATE OF OHIO
Case manager
• Coordinate the completion of IEPs in accordance with the Director of Education timeline
• Completion of Progress Reports and Report Cards in a timely manner
• Makes necessary referrals to the related service providers
• Monitor the Data Collection for IEP Goals
• Curriculum-based assessments are completed at the end of a unit.
• Progress Monitoring Four times per year (quarterly)
• Development of Tier 1 and 2 behavior plans in coordination with team
• Communicate with families at least weekly
• Maintain a communication log for all students
• Training aids in data collection and behavior management
• Work collaboratively with related service providers for
o Classroom schedule (self-care, vocational, sensory breaks, etc.)
o Behavior management
• Total Communication System
o Specials Schedule
o Coordinating aide duties
o Integration of SEL
• Schedule and conduct IEP Meetings if the student is district-placed
• Write a Portfolio Review for Home School Students at the end of the year.
• Provide Intervention Minutes per IEP
• Complete Scholarship progress reports based on the following schedule
o 3/31 Winter
o 6/30 Spring
o 9/30 Summer
o 12/31 Fall
• Complete District progress reports per school calendar
• Complete Report cards per school calendar
• Conduct Parent Teacher Conferences 3 times per year
Staff Management
• Lead teacher/Teaching Assistants and 1:1 aides report to the intervention specialist
• The IS is responsible for training staff in how to administer policies and procedures in the classroom, not limited to how to collect data, rules about recess and lunch, bathroom routines, maintaining student portfolios, materials preparation, use of visual schedules behavior management, sensory breaks, etc.
• Assign duties to staff as necessary to ensure the safety, welfare, and education of students.
• Enforce company policies with staff such as (cell phones, attendance, dress code, etc)
• Ensure behavior plans are followed
• Schedule staff breaks
• Conduct weekly team meetings
Educational Materials
• Curriculum Mapping will be completed by 6/30 for the following school year
• ESY planning completed by 5/15 for summer
• Lesson plans are completed and approved 5 days prior to the new school week
• Ensure a minimum of 1 hands-on or project-based assignment is completed for each subject weekly.
• Subjects to be taught
o Cross Cat Room: ELA, Reading (phonics/Spelling/fluency), Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, Social Emotional Learning, Daily living, Vocational (age 12 and up)
o Functional Rooms: ELA, Reading (phonics/Spelling/fluency), Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, Social Emotional Learning, Daily living, Vocational (age 12 and up)
Curriculum
• All curricula outside of the following must be approved by the Director of Education
o SELLA (ELA)
o FUNdations
o Standards-Based Textbooks for Science/Math and Social Studies
Classroom Management
• Visual Schedules
• Communication Binders/App
o All students will have a communication binder or app completed daily.
o Completed communications will be maintained for 1 calendar year.
• PBIS
i. A PBIS plan will be in place for your classroom to support Tier 1 behavior interventions
ii. The plan must be approved by the Director of Education
Tier 2 Behavior Plans
iii. IS needs to work with its staff to establish Tier 2 behavior plans and interventions.
Student Engagement/Classroom Schedule
iv. Students will be engaged in learning a minimum of 80% of the school day.
1. Instruction is to start by 9:10 am
2. Instruction ends no earlier than 2:45 pm
3. The lunch period is 20 minutes for all students
4. Recess
a. K-3 2 times daily for 20 minutes
The student school day will be 9 am to 3 pm
• Substitute Binder: A week's worth of lessons should be prepared for use if the IS is absent for an extended period of time.
o These must be prepared no later than the first day of school.
