Program Description

Invitation Home’s summer internship program lasts 10 weeks and offers students many opportunities to learn about the different corporate functions and departments. The selected candidate will be designated to the Investment Management Group (IMG) – Asset Management division. Asset Management’s primary objective is to optimize portfolio performance while monitoring and mitigating risks on over 100,000 homes across 16 different markets across the United States.

 

The program provides interns opportunities to improve their analytical and professional skills, as well as develop a strong foundation of knowledge that will position them well for a career in real estate or corporate finance. Interns will have the opportunity to engage with industry-leaders, receive professional guidance from assigned mentors, and contribute to projects that will have a material impact on the business.

 

Job Description

IMG Asset Management summer interns will have the opportunity to learn the tenets of investment and portfolio management in the single-family residential (SFR) sector through exposure to both asset management and investment verticals. We are seeking motivated students with vision and initiative to develop solutions that drive the business forward. We’re looking for those with exceptional interpersonal and communications skills, as well as strong team players who are proactive, flexible and want to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Prepare portfolio-level reports
  • Conduct market-level financial and performance analysis
  • Research and analyze real estate markets
  • Explore large data sets, analyze data, and clearly communicate findings
  • Preparation of PowerPoint presentations for IMG leadership
  • Assist with ad hoc portfolio management projects
  • Complete projects assigned by Asset Management leadership and other duties as assigned

 

Education and/or Experience 

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in finance, Real Estate, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Knowledge of financial and investment theory preferred but not required
  • Quantitative degree or supportive coursework preferred
  • Knowledge and/or experience programming in Python, R preferred but not required
  • Knowledge and/or experience performing data visualization in Tableau preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
