Rate: $18/hour
The Portland Winter Light Festival is a family-friendly city-wide event that brings residents and visitors out to explore free cutting-edge light-based artwork, immersive sculpture, performances and participatory events each February. The festival transforms Portland's urban landscape into a shining canvas, showcasing the creative vision of hundreds of artists and engaging hundreds of thousands of attendees. PDXWLF is a program of the Willamette Light Brigade, an arts nonprofit that enriches the public realm by harnessing the power of art and artful lighting to transform Portland’s cityscape. The festival celebrates the power of creative expression to invigorate the community and fuel cultural and economic vitality during the winter.
The Portland Winter Light Festival is seeking a motivated, organized Production Assistant Intern to join our team for the 2025 Festival. This role is ideal for someone with an interest in art, event production and nonprofit work, who wants to gain hands-on experience supporting a large-scale cultural event. The PA intern will be involved in essential planning and production elements leading up to and during the Festival, and must be available to assist onsite during the event.
Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Festival Administrative Support
- Support festival production leading up to the event such as data entry, and general administrative and office support

Logistics & Coordination
- Distribute artist signs, posters, and hotel brochures around designated locations
- Set up and maintain office space, including inventory of supplies and furniture research
- Unwrap, sort, and allocate festival merchandise for distribution
- Assist with post-festival inventory (office supplies, hospitality, merch, signage)

Hospitality & VIP Support
- Assist with onsite hospitality arrangements for artists and volunteers
- Help coordinate the VIP event setup and guest support
- Manage assembly and distribution of credentials

Content Creation & Sponsor Relations
- Capture festival moments for social media and assist with content creation
- Take sponsor photos onsite for recognition and promotional purposes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest or background in art, event production, and nonprofit work
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Comfortable working remotely, as well as being present onsite during the festival dates
- Skills in photography are a plus
This internship provides a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the Portland Winter Light Festival and gain exposure to the inner workings of arts and cultural event production.
