Project Assistant I

CLS Position Announcement – Project Assistant I

Policy Research Associates, Inc. (PRA) is seeking a full-time Project Assistant to join a talented project team in its Criminal Legal System (CLS) program area to support multiple projects at the intersection of the behavioral health and criminal legal systems. PRA provides a central mechanism for states and communities to help strengthen behavioral health services and systems working nationally on issues affecting people who are involved or at risk of involvement with the adult criminal legal system.

Ideal candidates should have an interest in the subject matter of the work and possess a related degree. Candidates with lived experience in the criminal legal and/or behavioral health systems are encouraged to apply. 

The successful candidate for this position will function as an integral part of a team that provides technical assistance to states, communities, and individuals who are working at the intersection of the criminal legal and behavioral health systems across the country. Technical assistance provided by our team includes providing in-person and virtual training, facilitating strategic planning, convening large events including policy academies, archiving technical resources, disseminating information to the field, and developing technical assistance products and reports.

PRA is a remote-first organization with physical offices in Troy, NY. Accordingly, this position will be mainly remote but may require occasional travel to support CLS area events and/or attend PRA functions. 

The CLS Project Assistant I will have the following functions and responsibilities:

  • Providing general administrative and logistical support to project staff, including maintaining participant rosters, email, and listserv groups, developing travel itineraries, preparing, and shipping materials, and scheduling
  • Assisting with managing registration for events and coordinating event logistics
  • Assisting with database management and data entry
  • Assisting with drafting reports (site visits, monthly reports, etc.)
  • Handling routine information requests
  • Preparing materials for site visits and large events and interfacing with vendors to direct ship materials to event sites
  • Coordinating and scheduling meetings and conference calls
  • Supporting onsite and virtual technical assistance activities and events
  • Preparing PowerPoint presentations, program announcements agendas, and other materials
  • Providing tech support across various virtual meeting platforms
  • Maintaining archived materials and project management tracking

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in related field, bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Lived experience with the criminal legal and/or behavioral health systems is a plus
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) is required
  • Knowledge of and ability to use innovative media/technology is desired, including virtual meeting technology (e.g., WebEx, Zoom, MS Teams, etc.)
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills required
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to take initiative, work within timelines and accomplish multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Some travel may be required

Position is a full-time, immediate opening with competitive salary range ($55,000-$65,000) and excellent benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision care, 401k and employer-contributed retirement, student loan assistance, tuition reimbursement, wellness programs, and casual work attire.
