Community Relations Associate

About Alumni Ventures
Alumni Ventures (AV) is a trailblazing venture capital firm, redefining the way individual investors can participate in startup investments. With over $1.3 billion in assets under management and a rapidly expanding portfolio of over 1,400 venture-backed companies, AV supports a community of 750,000+ members. Our team of 120 professionals, spanning major cities like Boston, New York, Chicago, and Menlo Park, is constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation.

About This Role
As a Community Relations Associate at Alumni Ventures, you’ll play a vital role in engaging with and supporting our vibrant investor community. This position is ideal for those who seek highly-varied and high-autonomy high-responsibility early-career role at a thriving and award winning financial services firm.

Working closely with our Managing Partners and senior leadership, you’ll assist our prospects and investors through their customer journey, which can include engaging with AV over the phone,  on webinars, over email, SMS and other means of communication.

Leveraging AV’s structured playbooks, you will collaborate closely with our Managing and Senior Partners to facilitate AV’s direct-to-investor approach. AV’s product is straightforward yet powerful: actively-managed venture capital portfolios, thoughtfully diversified across stages, sectors, and geographies, and co-invested with top-tier venture capital firms. Your role will ensure our investors have access to the information and resources they need, optimizing the time of our investment professionals and enabling them to focus on impactful client engagement and investment decisions. This support extends throughout the annual capital-raising process and continues as an ongoing, essential function.

Success in this role relies on your background in customer-facing roles within B2C environments, ideally in financial services. You’ll engage strategically with our prospects and investors, handling inquiries with precision and empathy. This role does not solicit investments, and is not compensated based on fundraising metrics. Instead, this role focuses on fostering AV’s mission through a supportive, service-oriented approach that enhances the investor journey.

As a member of the Community team, reporting to a Senior Community Manager, you’ll work collaboratively with peers and cross-functional teammates across corporate and investment functions, becoming a valuable point of contact for AV’s investor community and a vital contributor to our venture growth.

If you’re looking to grow your career in venture capital through meaningful client engagement and strategic support, this role is a perfect fit!

Responsibilities

Primary Community Support: Serve as the day-to-day email point of contact for new and existing investors, guiding them through AV’s offerings and services with a personal, educational approach. You will support investors by providing educational materials and sharing resources that help them understand AV’s portfolio and investment strategies.

Relationship Building & Investor Engagement: Build and nurture meaningful connections with community members, primarily through email, to understand their needs, anticipate questions, and provide support tailored to their unique journeys. Occasionally, you may connect via phone or virtual meetings to facilitate deeper engagement or answer more complex questions, all while maintaining AV’s reputation for exceptional service.

Event Coordination & Partner Support: Collaborate closely with our Managing Partners and Senior Partners to ensure smooth execution of virtual events, webinars, and investor meetings. This includes preparing event materials, coordinating schedules, and assisting with follow-ups to maximize engagement and reinforce AV’s community-focused approach.

Resource & Information Management: Provide investors and community members with relevant, pre-approved product and process information, aligning responses with AV’s standards for accuracy and consistency. You’ll play a pivotal role in streamlining how we share information, ensuring that investors can access what they need efficiently and clearly.

Data Tracking and Reporting: Track engagement metrics, capture insights, and compile reports to support AV leadership—including Directors, VPs, and Partners—in making data-driven decisions. Regularly review and analyze data to identify trends, improve investor engagement processes, and provide actionable insights that enhance AV’s support to its investor community.

Process Optimization: Actively seek opportunities to enhance internal workflows and processes. Whether it's refining email communication protocols or introducing efficiency in event coordination, your role will contribute to making our investor engagement team more responsive and effective.

Project and Strategic Support: Collaborate on strategic projects assigned by Partners and other team leaders. These may include researching best practices, supporting pilot initiatives, and participating in continuous improvement efforts that expand AV’s impact on the investor experience.
