Architectural Sales

 

This unique position requires sales excellence, detail-orientation, mathematical prowess, and expertise in home design and the construction process. The right candidate will have exceptional inter-personal skills, the ability to nurture and network with customers as well as industry connections, organization skills, experience in applied and complex geometry, and a love for good, hard work.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Design structural components for variable-scaled projects for residential, commercial, and industrial clientele
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building codes and current building regulations to meet and exceed local, state, and/or international building standards. 
  • Ability to review and apply information from survey reports, topographical maps, zoning restrictions and client requirements to ensure specifications meet project goals
  • Designer: Ability to create and/or review blueprints, plans and change orders to verify structural integrity of materials and designs, and perform complex calculations and use modeling methods to ensure correct results
  • Estimation: Ability to accurately calculate material takeoffs to determine pricing for custom projects
  • Research existing and new material technology to determine practical applications, strength and durability expectations and cost-benefits information, and prepare material recommendations for current and future projects
  • Create and present structural overviews for upcoming projects, and develop reports that include technical details for engineers as well as big-picture analysis and cost estimates for project managers and senior executives
  • Provide on-site assessments of topography to inform design decisions and engineering needs
  • Ability to collaborate with an ever-expanding network of independent contractors and home owners, providing guidance and aligning on material needs
  • Ability to be on-site for the first build day, providing assistance and problem-solving in real time to ensure a successful foundation for the build

 

Job Skills & Qualifications

Required:

  • Customer service and sales experience
  • On-site and full-time in Plattsburgh, NY
  • 3-5 professional references and a portfolio of relevant work
  • Decisive with excellent critical thinking skills
  • Good written and verbal communication abilities, including preparing and giving presentations
  • Willingness to travel 30-60% of the calendar year, which may including long-distance driving and/or on-site material delivery, as needed
  • Ability to independently traverse build sites, which may include uncleared forest paths, unleveled site structures, and generally navigating difficult terrain
  • Ability to lift 50lbs 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar with relevant work experience 
  • Experience in log home sales, designing, and/or construction
  • Experience with Chief Architect or other CAD software
  • Experience with HubSpot or other CRM software
