Graphic Designer

Job Title: Graphic Designer 

Reports to: Marketing Director 

Hours: 40+ hours per week 

Location: Phoenix, AZ or Remote 

Job Purpose: 

First Day is a full-service marketing, strategic consulting and public relations firm that focuses on all things K-12 education. First Day is looking for a dynamic and passionate Graphic Designer to join its team. The primary purpose of the Graphic Designer is to work with the marketing team to ensure client direction is portrayed through design. The Graphic Designer will work closely with multiple members of the marketing team including content creators, designers and marketing strategists. A successful Graphic Designer should have original ideas, a keen eye for detail, and an openness to learn and innovate. Our designers need to be effective communicators to understand the company and/or client needs and execute an effective solution. 

 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

● Seek to thoroughly understand project requirements and objectives. 

● Collaborate with the Marketing Director and other team members to launch projects. 

● Strong eye for aesthetics and visual details to ensure a quality final product 

● Listen to design needs, introduce ideas and communicate them to members of the team.

 ● Design marketing collateral for the organization based on branding strategy and direction from the Marketing Director. 

● Use graphic techniques to create design drafts. 

● Maintain high standards of quality and ensure only the best work is released to the client.

 ● Design various digital marketing applications for clients that include (but not limited to) social media graphics, email skins and other similar items. 

● Have a background in website user interface design and work on website projects in coordination with a back end developer. 

 

Important metrics for a Graphic Designer 

● Ability to deliver on-brand, high-quality designs. 

● Feedback is incorporated into final designs. 

 

Requirements and Qualifications: 

● At least 2 years of graphic design experience. 

● Organized and efficient.

● Experience with design software and graphics editing software, including Canva, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. 

● Current in design trends and industry best practices. 

● Working knowledge of design techniques, such as layout, typography, print prep, and color. 

● Driven and self-motivated to complete deadlines, manage the team and set creative direction 

● Strong attention to detail and highly organized. 

● A good listener with the ability to communicate with people of diverse disciplines. 

● Ability to adapt and respond quickly to changing landscapes while managing multiple projects and the ability to handle multiple deadlines. 

● Ability to communicate clearly, thoughtfully, and meaningfully through the written word. 
 

Salary: $55,000/year plus benefits (including health insurance and cell phone stipend)
