Contracts Management - Leadership Development Internship

The Contract Leadership Development Program (CLDP) is a two-year competitive training program designed to provide knowledge through challenging rotational assignment and collaborative training, to become the leaders of tomorrow. Rotational assignments will expose a participant to different business divisions, facilities, and managers nation-wide. At Parker, we believe in professional and personal development and as Contract Leadership Development Associate, you would have access to on-going development opportunities through formal trainings, on-the-job experiences, coaching and mentorship with leaders at Parker.

Program Description:

  • Program Duration: 2 years
  • Program Structure: Typically, 3 rotational assignments, up to 4
  • Rotation Lengths: Typically, 2 six-month rotations and 1 year rotation.
  • Relocation Requirements: The assignments will likely require relocation. Geographic flexibility is required both during and upon completion of the program. You will also be required to travel to Parker’s corporate headquarters in Cleveland, OH for program review, personal development and interaction with fellow program participants and mentors.
  • This is a fully in-office position.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with division or location Contracts Management team to impact Parker's Win Strategy objectives of Profitable Growth, Financial Performance, Customer Service and Empowered Employees while continuously maintaining the highest degree of customer service, throughput, quality, and cost.
  • Demonstrate ability to understand and improve processes and procedures, to develop and display leadership skills and to build broad business acumen while applying effective business decision making. Leadership training and development experiences throughout the initial two years with the goal to develop skillsets in supervision, team leadership and management.
  • Responsible for learning and developing quality and lean concepts by studying and planning operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines, and facilities where decisions are made within the limits of general practices and policies.
  • Interacts with more experienced Contract Managers/Contract Administrators to manage and follow through on independent projects. This position will also assist other managers and functional teams, when applicable.

 

To join this program, you need to meet or exceed the following criteria:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree with a business-related focus or liberal arts, Master’s degree in business administration.
  • Must be in senior standing and currently enrolled in an applicable degree with a graduation date on or before June 2025. 
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Working knowledge of contract management concepts and demonstrated application, Relevant experienced gained through internships or co-op opportunities.
  • Strong analytical skills, demonstration of leadership capabilities and professional maturity. Demonstrated confidence, excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Computer skills - Microsoft applications.
  • Geographic flexibility is required as there is a relocation requirement.
  • Travel requirements: The assignments will likely require relocation. You will also be required to travel to Parker’s corporate headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio for program review, personal development and interaction with fellow program participants and mentors.
