Manager - Miscellaneous Steel Fabrication

Position SummaryThe manager will work closely with Shop Manager to ensure the workflow meets rapid turnaround times. They will also prepare comprehensive estimates for fabrication of miscellaneous steel projects, in addition to working with the Treasurer regarding capital expenditures for the shop, asset acquisition, and staffing. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily as well as any other duties that may be assigned.

·        Work from emails, drawings, verbal, and written requests to prepare comprehensive estimates for fabrication of miscellaneous steel projects.

·        Prepare detailed material take-offs, estimates in accordance with project requirements and required scope of work utilizing design drawings, specification, and other associated documents.

·        Analyze projects, interpret specifications, and calculate measurements.

·        Develop cut sheets for custom parts.

·        Calculate cut sizes for the shop to fabricate custom products.

·        Work closely with the Treasurer regarding capital expenditures for the shop.

QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

·        Possess strong math skills with proficiency in Algebra, basic Geometry, and basic trigonometry.

·        Ability to read and interpret structural and elementary engineering PDF drawings.

·        Take direction and complete tasks without supervision.

·        High level or organization.

·        Ability to move orders/projects through many processes.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Bilingual is preferred.

Work Environment and ScheduleThe work environment will be a mix of office and plant floor responsibilities. The work schedule for this position is Monday-Thursday 7:30-4:30 and Friday 7:30- 3:30.
