Financial Education Coordinator
POSITION PURPOSE:
To excel in the tasks specific to this essential role, as well as participate and help develop our WCCU Cares culture. You would be responsible for providing outstanding five-star service to our members and to our internal staff (#TeamWCCU). Your actions will directly contribute to our culture: WCCU Cares: We care about our members, their financial needs, and our community.
This position is responsible for assisting the Financial Education Manager in developing, recommending, implementing, and overseeing the Credit Union’s School and Community Financial Education programs. Formulate marketing, advertising, and promotional programs to support those programs. Perform marketing research as needed. Develop and deliver financial education presentations. Ensure that the Credit Union’s professional reputation is projected and maintained.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
Assist in the development and implementation of the Credit Union’s Financial Education programs including but not limited to:
- Money Mammals Kids Club
- CeMark Financial Literacy
- CU4Reality Program
- Everfi Online Financial Literacy Program- High Schools, URI, WCCU Website
- High School Speaker Opportunities
- URI Financial Education events
- URI Financial Education Classroom presentations
- Community Outreach Programs/Events
Assist in developing, coordinating and implementing other School initiatives, including but not limited to:
- Teacher Grant Program
- WCCU & CUARI Scholarship Programs
- Coordinate with CCUA and the Board of Directors’ Teacher Grant and Scholarship Committees, to assure accurate marketing pieces and timely delivery of forms, certificates, and rewards etc. to the participating schools.
- Expand School Programs to new branch market area schools
Assists in developing and maintaining effective contact and public relations with members, education professionals, volunteers, and external business contacts.
- Establish and implement effective communication.
- Ensure that members’ requests and questions are promptly, appropriately, and courteously resolved.
- Inform members of Credit Union services, products, and policies.
- Ensure that the Credit Union’s professional reputation is maintained.
- Attend School and Financial Educations functions/open houses/events to develop programs and seek opportunities
Assist in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and coordination with Credit Union personnel and with management.
- Effectively partner with other departments and the Community Outreach SME for Financial Education Presentations and event support.
- Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant concerns.
- Complete required reports, records, and related documents accurately and promptly.
- Attend meetings as required.
Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
- Stay informed of developments in Marketing & Financial Education fields and of market changes that could affect Credit Union operations.
- Complete special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration- Public Relations or Communications preferred, or demonstrated Customer Service equivalent experience and training. Certified Financial Counselor Certification through WCCU after hired.
Required Knowledge: Knowledge of Credit Union products and services. Knowledge of financial education, proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Experience Required: Minimum of one to three years’ experience in communications, public relations and/or customer service.
Skills/Abilities: Able to operate computer applications. Excellent interpersonal, public relations, and presenting abilities, Strong project management skills, Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and visual).
