Business Process Innovation Intern

Dates/Full-, Part-, Part-time on call: Summer 2025 Full-time

In Office Requirements:  Hybrid—2-3 days/week in the office

Clearance Requirements:  Will be submitted for U.S. government security clearance

 

Come join MITRE as an intern in the exciting field of Enterprise Transformation! As a member of the Business Process Innovation department, you learn about and contribute to guiding government agencies in planning and executing large-scale, complex, transformative changes in some of the following opportunities:

  • Analyze business process flows, recommend process improvements, create journey maps, and/or facilitate innovation ideation sessions
  • Contribute to an analysis to ensure that processes are aligned with desired business/mission strategies and objectives
  • Use qualitative and quantitative research methods to collect and analyze data to find trends, themes, and similarities
  • Develop presentations that translate and communicate assessment findings to inform impactful decisions 
  • Contribute to the development of products, such as concept of operations, analysis of alternatives, roadmaps, playbooks, and visual dashboards
  • Research leading practices, methodologies, tools, and techniques

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain a US Government security clearance and agency-specific clearances [This will go elsewhere]
  • Must be a student enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-seeking program in one of the following areas--Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Systems Management, Business Innovation, Management Sciences, or other related disciplines.
  • Good understanding of two or more of the following areas:
    • Business Process Improvement or Modeling
    • Business Innovation
    • Lean Six Sigma
    • Design Thinking
    • Journey Mapping
    • Qualitative Research Methods
    • Quantitative Research Methods
  • Sustained excellence in academic performance

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience having applied academic learning to an internship or research/lab position
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Effective oral and in written communication skills
  • Demonstrated interest in serving the public

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$33,000 - $41,500 - $50,000 Annual
