Description and Requirement

 Maryland Auto Insurance is a Property & Casualty Insurance carrier and independent agency of the State of Maryland. We’re located in the Locust Point neighborhood of Baltimore, featuring a variety of restaurant and shopping options in walking distance from the office.

Maryland Auto Insurance seeks candidates to fill part time, contractual role in our Marketing Internship Program. This is a part time position with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the school year or 29 hours per week during the summer internship session. Students are eligible to earn college credit through their school (or institution).

 The Communications Intern will be provided with an opportunity to work closely with and support the efforts of Maryland Auto’s Communications and Corporate Relations Department. The intern will collaborate with these marketing and communications professionals to manage digital and social media assets, develop and execute internal and external communications strategies, and participate in content development, B2B outreach efforts, and community outreach activities.

Job duties include:

•           Developing content for newsletters, website, blogs and other communications

•           Reviewing and editing various communications

•           Participating in reporting meetings with internal partners and digital advertising agency

•           Participating in the creation of monthly social media calendar

•           Compiling media campaign and social media analytics for monthly reporting

• Assisting in the coordination and execution of community outreach events

Requirements:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. 
Qualified applicants will possess strong written and verbal communication skills and experience with website management and social media analytics. Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint) is necessary as well as the ability to maintain a high level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, enthusiasm and confidentiality. Experience with Wordpress preferred, but not required. Candidates majoring in Marketing or Communications are highly encouraged to apply and a writing sample is requested.

This position does not supervise other employees. This is a part-time, non-benefited position with the core work hours being 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is a hybrid remote position. The intern is required to be in the Baltimore office with the Communications and Corporate Relations team members for scheduled in-office days. Some weekend hours may be required to participate in community outreach events. Flextime may be available with prior supervisory approval.
