ElectronX Summer Internship - Software Engineering

ElectronX is building a cutting-edge, CFTC-regulated financial exchange to enable trading of electricity contracts sized for the renewable energy transition. Our cash-settled, hourly megawatt-hour contracts across many locations will provide electricity traders with powerful new tools to manage price risk against short-term volatility.

We are seeking outstanding candidates for a summer internship role to coordinate and assist with data science and analysis projects. This is an opportunity to be part of an innovative climate tech startup at the intersection of capital markets and the rapidly evolving renewable energy landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Engineering team to design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs for the exchange platform using Python and Rust
  • Build and optimize data processing pipelines and infrastructure for real-time market data handling
  • Implement automated testing frameworks and contribute to continuous integration/deployment processes
  • Contribute to cloud infrastructure development and optimization
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a technical undergraduate or graduate program with coursework in data science, statistics, computer science, engineering or related quantitative field
  • Strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Python, Rust or similar languages
  • Experience with data querying (SQL) and working with databases
  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP) is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team collaboratively in a team environment

This is a paid internship opportunity based in our New York City or Chicago office locations for Summer 2025. Exceptional remote candidates may also be considered.
