Construction Project Intern

Construction Project Intern, L.S. Brinker

General Position Summary

The Project Intern assists and supports the Project Engineer, Project Manager and Superintendent on their assigned project. As a Project Intern, you will get the opportunity to perform some of the critical day-to-day tasks such as the distribution of project correspondence, submitting and reviewing shop drawings, maintaining and updating the project schedule, and other crucial task that are involved in running a successful project.

 Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with receiving, reviewing, forwarding, and tracking the status of submittals (start to finish)
  • Assist with the preparation, review, tracking, and distribution of RFIs
  • Assist in the management of the project permit process
  • Assist in preparation of bid packages and procurement
  • Assist with schedule updates from Superintendent, Project Engineer and Project Manager
  • Assist with the tracking of Subcontractor progress
  • Assist with the tracking and inspection of onsite materials deliveries
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly owner project status reports
  • Assist with weekly project meeting documentation, preparation and distribution of meeting minutes
  • Assist with project close-out and punch list
  • Assist with subcontractor’s communication on the project and with the office staff
  • Communicate and enforce Brinker Safety and Health Management Program
  • Demonstrate commitment to a safe working environment through own actions and mentoring others

 Job Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of construction industry concepts & methods, project team members roles and responsibilities, trades and materials
  • Ability to understand basic Drawings, Contract Documents and Specifications
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Computer knowledge and proficiency in Bluebeam, MS Project and Microsoft Office applications preferred
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work productively with project team members
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to learn and adapt

Education and/or Experience

  • Sophomore, Junior or Senior* in a Construction or Engineering Program
    • *Must have at least one semester remaining.

  

Work Environment Job/Conditions

This job may be performed in the office or on the jobsite and requires frequent sitting (often working on a computer), frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching. Due to computer usage, there may be repetitive motions of the hands and wrists. He/she must be able to navigate the jobsite and is expected to be able to comply with all safety regulations in the office and on the jobsite.
