Math Faculty

Job Summary: Instruct various math and statistics courses (Elementary Algebra, 
Statistics, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus 1, Calculus 2,
Calculus 3, Discrete Structures, Multivariant Statistics, etc). Advise and mentor students. 
This position reports to the Chair of the Math, Science, and Technology department.

JOB DUTIES:
1. Teach a minimum of four Math courses per semester.
2. Advise and mentor students in their major area of study
3. Advise, review and assist adjunct faculty in area of expertise
4. Serve on an OLC governance committee.
5. Required to travel extensively.
6. Supervise part-time instructors.
7. Provide oversight, monitor, and ensure that math courses are satisfactory 
8. Assist with curriculum development to align and embrace the vision and mission 
of the Oglala Lakota College. 
9. Incorporation of Lakota Perspective - Wolakokiciyapi in all courses.
10. Assist development, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance in the 
department and institutional assessment activities.
11. Assist with course, department, and institutional persistence and retention efforts.
12. Participate in departmental development.
13. Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as required by supervisor.
14. Other duties as assigned and as prescribed by the OLC Faculty expectations 
policy. 

Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in Mathematics or Physics, PhD preferred
2. Master’s degree with 18 credits in Mathematics and/or Statistics
3. Secondary Education teacher certification preferred
4. Must pass a drug test
5. Ability to work with computers and technology
6. Ability to effectively communicate in a professional environment
7. Knowledge of tribal history, culture, philosophy, language and reservation 
perspective.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience on Faculty Scale
