Job Description
The Human Resources (HR) Internship is a 10-week developmental experience within the Westfield Human Resources department. The intern will have ownership of high impact project deliverables and assignments and work alongside HR team members with expertise in multiple disciplines across HR. The intern will have the opportunity to actively participate in the enterprise summer intern program, which includes learning workshops, community investment opportunities, leadership talks and summertime fun! The specific HR team and manager assignment will be determined closer to the start of the internship based on project prioritization. Projects will likely be a defined scope of work within Talent Management, Diversity Equity & Inclusion, Community Investment, or Total Rewards. There will also be ample opportunity to partner with the Human Resources Business Partner team throughout the internship period. This internship will be on site with a hybrid schedule at our beautiful Westfield Center Ohio corporate headquarters.
Responsibilities
- Works on a project or projects that align with and contribute to accomplishing the Human Resources team objectives. Projects will provide the opportunity to collaborate within the HR department as well as with team members across other departments.
- Completes assigned tasks and projects efficiently and effectively, following instructions and guidelines provided by supervisors or mentors.
- Conducts research, gathers data, and analyzes information relevant to the internship focus or assigned projects.
- Identifies and resolves issues or challenges that arise during the internship, demonstrating problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to finding solutions.
- Collaborates with colleagues, supervisors, and other stakeholders to effectively communicate progress, challenges, and ideas, and actively participates in team meetings or discussions.
- Participates in on the job learning, workshops, networking, and training programs, to enhance knowledge and skills related to the field or industry of the internship. Participates in enterprise-wide summer internship program events.
- Demonstrates professionalism, punctuality, and a strong work ethic by being reliable, responsible, and maintaining a positive attitude towards assigned responsibilities. Develops business skills in communication and shadowing other professionals.
- Seeks feedback from supervisors or mentors, actively seeking opportunities for improvement, and applying learning to enhance performance throughout the internship.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and/or commensurate experience.
- Either actively enrolled in an academic institution in pursuit of a degree in Human Resources, Labor & Industrial Relations, Psychology, Business, or other relevant course of study or is a recent college graduate, typically having attained a degree within the past 12 months.
Location
Hybrid defined as three (3) or more days per week in the office
