News Reporter (Full-Time)
Overview:
Audacy Dallas News Radio 1080 AM KRLD is searching for a Full-Time News Reporter for broadcast and digital, who can excel in on-the-ground reporting in Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated news junkie, who consumes all types of news content and accomplishes assignments on deadline while continually developing enterprise content.
Ideal candidates will have prior experience or training in reporting for a news organization, be able to work in a hybrid digital/broadcast environment, and have excellent news judgment.
Responsibilities:
What You'll Do:
- Produce and record news stories and actively use social media, in person interviews, and other methods to gather public reaction to current news stories.
- Gather, write, record, edit and deliver content inclusive of providing live coverage when breaking news occurs.
- Must be an active consumer of social content and be able to write and post stories to the station website and social platforms.
- Write scripts and ad-lib material for stories.
- Develop and research potential sports stories.
- Other duties as required by management.
- Must be available early mornings, nights, weekends as necessary.
Qualifications:
Required & Preferred:
- Prefer 3+ years of experience or training in reporting for a news organization, be able to work in a hybrid digital/broadcast environment, and have excellent news judgment and the ability to seek out both sides to ensure every story is fair and balanced.
- Our ideal candidate has a background and understanding of law and order, civics, and the political landscape, and has the ability to break down and report on legal matters, trials, lawsuits, and rulings.
- Computer literate and have excellent writing skills.
- Proficiency in editing and packaging news sound and interviews.
- A contemporary sound and excellent on-air delivery.
- Knowledge of the broadcast area and station demographics.
- A valid driver’s license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and, if the position requires use of the applicant's own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required.
