Business Development Intern

Summary of Position:

The mission of the Business Development Intern is to drive and support the regional Business Operations teams across the US and elevate the SFE brand. The successful candidate will drive productivity and profitability to achieve set sales targets and drive sustainable, profitable growth aligned to SFE's strategic business plan. This position will provide direct support to the sales team to engage and nurture prospective clients, focus on developing new leads, and identify new opportunities. At the end of the internship, the student will learn how to utilize various media sources to market an organization and identify potential sales leads. The intern will also learn how to research prospective clients, identify client gap needs, and gain an in-depth understanding of the RPF (Request for Proposal) process. S/he will also learn how to collaborate with a team to advance marketing and development goals and gain first-hand experience on the importance of successful communication tools/skills. The intern will gain valuable insights into for-profit business administration in a field where State and Federal regulations are imposed, and compliance is strictly regulated. Lastly, the intern will learn how to prioritize and manage several projects at once; establish, maintain and grow a positive relationship with a myriad of unique clients, and provide on-going support to exceed client expectations.

This is a SPRING INTERNSHIP: February-June, 2025

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Business/Communication
  • Computer skills: MS Office-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher
  • InDesign and CRM experience preferred 
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Be able to work in a sitting position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours)
  • Be physically able to lift, reach, bend, and stoop frequently up to 30lbs
     

Responsibilities:

  • Aid sales team in achieving planned revenue growth and delivering mutual profitability for SFE and school district partners 
  • Print, produce, and ship promo items and marketing materials for tradeshow/sales endeavors
  • Maintain adequate par levels or marketing materials/equipment
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure all proposal deadlines met
  • Manage and track sales activities through CRM software (Salesforce)
  • Build reports, dashboards, create record pages and fields, and manage the pipeline report
  • Aid in scheduling and organization or presentations, pre-bid conferences, and manage the pipeline report
  • Assist in the proposal production and management process
  • Out duties, as assigned
