Special Education Administrator

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 

  1. Valid N.Y.S. teaching certificate
  2. Valid N.Y.S. School District Leader Certificate
  3. Minimum of 3 years successful administrative experience
  4. Ability to monitor, implement and as needed revise special education policies, district plan and practices.
  5. Ability to oversee development and implementation of guaranteed, viable special education curricula and appropriate assessments that are aligned with applicable N.Y.S. learning standards
  6. Ability to ensure timely and thorough collection and analysis of pertinent student-related data.
  7. Ability to conduct special education trainings and meetings to keep staff knowledgeable about regulatory and policy changes, new programs, current best practices and other pertinent information regarding special education
  8. Ability to oversee the New York State Alternative Assessment process
  9. Ability to coordinate efficient and effective implementation of special education data management system (e.g. Clear Track) throughout the district.
  10. Have knowledge of Cleartrack/Part 200 database, STAC submission, SED reporting CPSE and CSE procedures, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED: 

  1. Evidence of strong instructional leadership skills and comprehensive knowledge in the area of Special Education
  2. Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills with Parents, staff and students
  3. Evidence of strong speaking and writing skills
  4. Must possess a genuine affection for and interest in children, ensuring that each special education student is provided with the richest educational experience the district can provide
  5. Must be able to perform as a visible and effective leader in both long range planning and day to day operations of the district
