Special Education Administrator
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Valid N.Y.S. teaching certificate
- Valid N.Y.S. School District Leader Certificate
- Minimum of 3 years successful administrative experience
- Ability to monitor, implement and as needed revise special education policies, district plan and practices.
- Ability to oversee development and implementation of guaranteed, viable special education curricula and appropriate assessments that are aligned with applicable N.Y.S. learning standards
- Ability to ensure timely and thorough collection and analysis of pertinent student-related data.
- Ability to conduct special education trainings and meetings to keep staff knowledgeable about regulatory and policy changes, new programs, current best practices and other pertinent information regarding special education
- Ability to oversee the New York State Alternative Assessment process
- Ability to coordinate efficient and effective implementation of special education data management system (e.g. Clear Track) throughout the district.
- Have knowledge of Cleartrack/Part 200 database, STAC submission, SED reporting CPSE and CSE procedures, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:
- Evidence of strong instructional leadership skills and comprehensive knowledge in the area of Special Education
- Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills with Parents, staff and students
- Evidence of strong speaking and writing skills
- Must possess a genuine affection for and interest in children, ensuring that each special education student is provided with the richest educational experience the district can provide
- Must be able to perform as a visible and effective leader in both long range planning and day to day operations of the district
