Air Resources Supervisor I

The Technical Development Section of the Air Quality Planning and Science Division is seeking a self-motivated, innovative and detail-oriented individual to lead a team of professionals who implement the consumer products (including aerosol coatings) regulations and develop innovative strategies to reduce ground level ozone formation, air toxics and greenhouse gases. The selected Air Resources Supervisor I will lead and support a team to: implement industry surveys of aerosol coatings product formulations and sales; update emission inventories; conduct technical evaluations of consumer product emissions to determine the feasibility, cost, and environmental impacts of consumer product regulation amendments; develop and implement innovative strategies; and lead a team in developing rulemaking proposals for Board adoption. The Section is also responsible for conducting surveys to determine the emissions from architectural coatings; developing suggested control measures to reduce emissions and ozone formation from architectural coatings; and determining fee amounts in support of the Architectural Coatings Program. This position also guides assessments of potential impacts of exempting compounds from the VOC definitions for consumer products, recommending changes to VOC definitions in regulations. The Section supervisor leads and participates in public workshops, Board hearings, and consultation meetings with affected industry, trade associations, environmental groups, community groups, air districts, sister agencies, and other consumer product stakeholders. The Section supervisor will work closely with the Branch chief in planning and coordinating Section assignments.
