UPPER ARLINGTON CITY SCHOOLS JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: School-Age Child Care Program Aide
REPORTS TO: Site Supervisor
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular/Part-time
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
SALARY: $14.28/hr. - $14.86/hr.
DESCRIPTION: Responsible for assisting the supervisor in the care and nurturing of children in a safe and welcoming environment, implements activities and helps in carrying out the daily routine of the program.
NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance
Qualifications:
Minimum of 18 years of age.
High school diploma of equivalent
Experience working with children preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work effectively and positively with others
Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
Effective active listening skills
Ability to manage children in small & large groups
Can understand and identify the individual needs of children in the program and adapt
expectations and practices accordingly
Such alternatives to the above required knowledge skills and abilities as the Supervisor and/or
Board of Education may find appropriate
Essential Functions:
Accurately records and supervises the arrival/dismissal of each child.
Communicates with the other SACC members and parents.
Assists in the snack preparation and serving.
Assists to keep supplies and equipment in order.
Attends the Supervisor’s monthly meetings, give input on ideas for curriculum planning.
Daily set-up/clean up of program.
Interacts positively, using constructive guidance in appropriate social interactions and expected
standards of behavior.
Enforces SACC policy.
Will complete an Incident/Injury reporting of minor and serious injuries.
Encouraging children’s participation in multiple program activities.
- Greets and interacts with parents daily, sharing positive information about a child whenever possible.
- Interacts with parents, children, school personnel, and SACC staff in a positive, professional, and cooperative manner; refer appropriate questions to the Site Supervisor.

Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue

Interactions with unruly children

Interruption of duties by students, visitors, staff and/or telephoning
Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, see , read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, climb, kneel and stoop
