Emergency Preparedness Liaison

Division: Health

Reports to: Health Director

Worksite: Health Division 1

Work Hours: M-F, 8:00am to 4:30pm

LLBO Status: Non-exempt

License/Certification Requirements: Must have a valid driver's license, current insurance, or be insurable

Summary: While collaborating with internal and external partners, including emergency management, healthcare, schools, businesses/workplaces, non-profit organizations, and the community, this position performs a range of basic office support duties for the Health Division. These duties include greeting and directing visitors, answering questions, performing routine security checks, data entry, overseeing the response and recovery to public health emergencies, maintaining the electronic filing system for emergency preparedness, preparing a policy for Health on various emergency situations, and other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements and Experience:

A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D) is required. One year of emergency preparedness experience is preferred.

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.

Understanding Emergency situations and overseeing up to two budgets, policies, and procedures.

Excellent time management, organizational, communication) public relations, speaking skills, and customer service.

Self-starter, good attendance, and punctuality are a must.

Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Pre-employment drug testing is mandatory for all Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe positions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Establishes, maintains, processes, and/or updates files, records, and/or other documents.

Leads the development, review, and maintenance of preparedness documents, including plans.

Direct oversight in collaboration with the Health Division Director in compiling/creating the Division's Emergency Preparedness Policies

Collaboration with County/City/Tribal emergency managers to coordinate planning/responding to emergent needs.

Maintains Health Division's badge-creating system.

Direct oversight of grants allocated to emergency preparedness within the Health Division, including reporting, agency, and LLBO modifications.

Oversees the Health Division camera systems.

Collaborate with LLBO Police Department's Emergency Management Director.

Keeps informed regarding rules, regulations, community, knowledge, and research trends of Public Health.

Perform a range of basic office support activities for the Health Division.

Greet and direct visitors, providing assistance and answering questions as needed.

Conduct routine security checks of buildings to ensure safety.

Other duties as assigned to support the Health Division's objectives.

Gather and analyze data on emergency preparedness and security incidents to identify trends and improve/create protocols.

Collaborate with security personnel to review footage and provide reports for incident investigations as needed. Handle preparing and submitting incident reports and maintaining accurate records for all security and safety related events.

Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.

Maintain strict confidentiality of matters in the Health Division's policies, planning, actions, employees, and finances.

Lead training sessions on emergency response protocols and conduct emergency simulation drills to evaluate preparedness levels.

Travel in and out of the state if needed.

Understanding and sensitivity to Native American culture.

Adhere to policies governing staff conduct.

Coordinate loading/unloading freight when it arrives.
