Business Development Intern (Corporate Work Study)
Saint Martin de Porres High School is seeking a dynamic, energetic and self-driven CWS Business Development Intern to be part of an innovative urban college-prep and career readiness high school experience.
OUR ORGANIZATION
Saint Martin de Porres High School is part of the Cristo Rey Network of Catholic schools designed exclusively for students of modest means. Our competitive edge is our Corporate Work study program, which allows students to gain real world work experience while receiving a college preparatory education. Eighty percent of our students will be the first in their extended families to go to college. Our rigorous curriculum, which includes students working in a corporate environment, was designed specifically for our school by a committee of prestigious educational leaders. Saint Martin was founded in 2004, we are chartered by the state of Ohio and accredited through the Ohio Catholic Schools Accrediting Association. POSITION SUMMARY
As a Business Development Intern, you will be an integral part of our sales team, working closely with our seasoned sales professionals to support various sales activities and initiatives. This internship is designed to provide you with exposure to the sales process, customer interactions, market research, and the overall business environment. You will receive training, mentorship, and real-world experience that will enhance your sales skills and prepare you for a potential career in business development and sales.
10-24 hours per week Spring semester 2025. Opportunity for hybrid work.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Market Research: Conduct research to identify potential leads and target industries. Gather information on competitors, market trends, and customer preferences to assist the sales team in refining their strategies.
- Lead Generation: Assist in identifying and qualifying leads through online research, social media, and other relevant sources. Document lead information accurately in the CRM system.
- Sales Support: Provide administrative support to the sales team by preparing sales materials, presentations, and proposals. Assist in maintaining sales databases and reports.
- Customer Interaction: Participate in customer calls, meetings, and presentations under the guidance of senior sales representatives. Learn effective communication techniques and gain firsthand experience in understanding customer needs.
- Sales Outreach: Support outreach efforts by making introductory calls or sending introductory emails to potential clients. Schedule follow-up appointments and track communication in the CRM.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing and customer service, to ensure a seamless customer experience from initial contact to post-sale support.
- Sales Process Learning: Learn and understand the various stages of the sales process, from prospecting to closing deals. Gain insights into negotiation strategies and objection handling techniques.
- Professional Development: Actively participate in sales training sessions, workshops, and team meetings. Seek feedback from mentors and peers to continuously improve your sales skills.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a degree in relevant field, e.g., Business, Marketing, Communication
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn about sales and business development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Basic understanding of CRM systems is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
- Demonstrated commitment to Catholic, faith-based education.
- Flexible schedule designed around class load, 10-24 hours per week from September through December. Opportunity for hybrid work and to continue internship into Spring.
