R&D Senior Scientist I

Initiate and conduct research and development activities to acquire and enlarge scientific knowledge and/or to develop new products and technologies in line with the overall R&D strategy in support of the global business.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities

• Generate and implement new research strategies and approaches and identify new research areas to drive the development of a sustainable research portfolio as well as generate and manage intellectual property/patents
• Lead research projects, e.g. to develop or scale up new innovative products based on customer needs / strategy / innovation roadmap etc. to foster business success
• Develop and optimize research methods and models to ensure state of the art research activities
• Collaborate with relevant internal and external stakeholders to meet the customer and market requirements including leadership, commercial, support teams as well as customers.
• Build up and develop new expertise, ensure state of the art knowledge by leveraging external sources (scientific community / market trends) and foster knowledge sharing within the company
• Coordinate and monitor the upscaling to pilot plant & production to ensure a successful transfer
• May represent or present for the company in the external scientific society (e.g. at conferences) and foster strategic interaction with business entities (e. g. manufacturing, plants, customers)
• May coach and mentor others in the field of expertise and drive the further development of employees to ensure the quality of work

Basic Qualifications

• University degree with PhD in Chemistry or closely related scientific studies

Preferred Qualifications

• Some experience in project management

Knowledge and Skills

• Substantial working experience in research and chemistry
• Open to work in the office/lab 3-5 days per week
• Ability to communicate effectively to larger groups
• Ability to lead and supervise projects and personnel
