Bridgewater State University was awarded a 5-year NSF Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) grant, which supports alliances among institutions of higher education to design and implement strategies that increase the number of historically underrepresented STEM faculty and promote systemic change. The grant provides a number of benefits to participating faculty, including course reduction and funding for establishing a research agenda, travel support, and cohort activities across the three institutions.

Required Qualifications:

A PhD in Statistics, Data Science, or Mathematics by August 31, 2025 is required. The successful candidate will have completed significant data science or statistics coursework at the graduate level.

Successful candidates will be strongly invested in excellence in teaching, advising, service, and research, and will demonstrate the ability to apply mathematical and statistical techniques in a variety of contexts, including other academic disciplines. They will also have the ability to communicate effectively, employ technology in teaching and learning, and work in a multicultural environment that fosters diversity. Evidence of scholarly activity, teaching experience, and a commitment to public higher education are expected as well.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates who are familiar with software such as R, Python, SQL, and visualization tools to enhance BSU’s data science offerings. Candidates eager to become involved in data science activities within the department are especially encouraged to apply.
