Internship - Quality

Position Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods throughout operations, utilizing knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, equipment capabilities, and tooling/fixture design. They develop production layouts to increase productivity and quality standards.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Applies basic industrial engineering concepts, approaches and techniques to product, process and services to meet industry requirements.
  • Gather and analyze data, performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to quantify process inefficiencies and track improvements over time.
  • Conducts basic work flow design and analysis
  • Assist in continuous improvement projects, employing methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Total Quality Management (TQM) to drive ongoing process enhancements.
  • Supports implementation plans and programs for facility/factory modifications and revisions to operating methods.
  • Assist in developing training materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and documentation to ensure that optimized processes are adopted.

 

Requirements

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience and abilities required. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Experienced in process mapping and analysis tools
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.

Skills:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: 

1. Must have proficiency in MS office applications including spreadsheet, enterprise resource planning, database, and specialized application software. 

2. Ability and willingness to abide by set policies and/or safety programs established by GHM, our clients, and/or regulatory agencies which govern our performance and behavior in the normal course of our work while on GHM or the client’s property or job site. 

3. Strong written and verbal communication skills required. 

4. Strong organization and time management skills. 

5. High attention to detail.

·  Mental demands: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is required to read, write, analyze data and reports, exercise judgment, develop plans, procedures and goals, present information to others and work under pressure.

· Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is also exposed to high level of manufacturing and equipment noise. Duties are performed indoors in a manufacturing environment with temperature changes. Exposure to hazardous materials, fumes or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts with vibration.
