The Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor (SNP) has two openings for current law school students interested in working as a Law Fellow within the Discovery Litigation and Compliance Unit.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on relevant case and statutory law
  • Assist in the collection and receipt of discovery materials from the NYPD at a precinct level (i.e., command logs, memo books), DEA and other agencies
  • Assist in review and collection of Body-Worn Camera footage
  • Assist in the organization of voluminous case files
  • Analyze, redact and reproduce case documents
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and adapt to changes in workflow processes
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications::

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access); editing, redacting and converting documents in Adobe and experience using Lexis/Nexis and Westlaw application
  • Must have strong attention to detail and a high concern for data accuracy
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Must have excellent organization, communication, writing and problem solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Familiarity with recent discovery reform procedures preferred
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position


Minimum Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required and candidate can be in there first, second or third year of law school.


Special Note: This is a part-time position for 15-25 hours per week with flexibility.
