About the Opportunity

The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need. This option is not available in the states of California, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, New York, Oregon or Washington at this time.
As a participant in the Co-op/Intern Professional Development Program, you will be cultivating professional skills and perform professional level work at FirstEnergy. Each participant will receive on-the-job training, mentoring, experiential learning and challenging assignments to refine skills and round out competencies.
As a Supply Chain Intern at FirstEnergy, you will have an impact on the team's success. Based on your academic discipline and the department and projects you are assigned to; your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting various FirstEnergy business units in an effort to drive strategic sourcing or drive optimal inventory levels
- Working with and supporting a sourcing specialist team or inventory team
- Data mining, interpretation of data findings, thought-leadership and communication of results and recommendations to varying audiences, including executive leadership - Supporting two to four sourcing specialist at any given time
- Working effectively with different parts of supply chain with varying levels of employees
- Assisting in high value contract sourcing and negotiations
- Performing contract archival functions
- Assisting to strategically transfer material purchase requests to existing contracts
Assisting management and coworkers, following well-defined practices and procedures, conducting business-specific research, gathering data, compiling reports and summaries, providing sound internal customer service and developing effective working relationships with employees in one's own work group
You will also have the opportunity to participate in the Co-op/Intern Professional Development Program, which is designed to cultivate professional skills and provide professional level work at FirstEnergy. Each participant will receive a personalized development plan, on-the-job training, and challenging assignments to refine skills and round out competencies.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program at an accredited university/college with a major in supply chain.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
-Sophomore, junior, senior with the ability to work two summers-preferred but not mandatory - Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship, both now and in the future
- Basic computer skills with strong experience using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstrate a questioning attitude to learn, produce results and develop relationships
- Knowledge of basic research techniques
- Strong interpersonal skills, including both written and verbal communications, with the ability to make formal presentations to various audiences
- Willingness to undertake assignments involving unfamiliar subjects, with the aptitude to learn quickly and meet tight deadlines
- Attention to detail, with the ability to synthesize findings to an executive level audience
- Organizational skills to prioritize and plan work, multi-task and meet schedules
- Able to work in a team environment with a constant focus on safety
- Highly motivated to work independently and productively
- Analytical skills to resolve problems and think creatively
