Food Service Worker
Under direction, in accordance with established program standards, state and federal regulations that govern food and nutrition services, carry out quality and compliant food preparation and clean-up, food delivery, inventory and documentation/reporting, and food service maintenance, in order to prepare, distribute and serve daily meals and snacks to young children ages 6 weeks to five and maintain a quality/compliant kitchen environment to achieve 100% compliance, during announced and unannounced inspections. Responsibilities include: Assemble food, dishes, utensils and supplies needed for timely meal preparation; prepare high-quality nutritional food, in quantity, based on number of children; follow standardized/established menus; ensure meals are prepared on schedule and in compliance with special diets; prepare and sort food for meal preparation for each classroom; adhere to sanitation and safety procedures prescribed for the Head Start kitchen; assure that food temperatures are hot or cold enough and that kitchen areas are sanitary so that health standards are maintained; wash dishes, pots, pans and utensils using approved sanitation methods; return all items to their proper storage site; complete routine maintenance of main kitchen and equipment, including weekly deep cleaning; routine cleaning of individual classroom food service areas; deliver meals from main kitchen to classroom kitchens as assigned; order supplies; assist in receiving orders from vendors, insuring that proper items have been delivered; assist with menu planning; assist with food inventories as assigned; reconcile container inventory weekly; perform weekly a thorough visual safety check and complete checklist; report any needed
