Your Next Excellent Adventure
We are seeking an Annual Giving Specialist who will play a pivotal role in our mission to cultivate generosity and community engagement. This role is vital to our annual campaign, SHARE Your Love of Girl Scouting, which aims to raise between $825K to $1 million annually. By collaborating with our dedicated grassroots volunteers, you will help provide essential financial support to our outdoor camps, Girl Scouts, and volunteers, ensuring that Girl Scouting remains accessible to everyone.
Here’s What You Will Be Doing
As our Annual Giving Specialist, you will be at the forefront of inspiring and engaging our community. Your responsibilities will include:
- Volunteer Leadership: Recruit, train, motivate, and manage fundraising volunteers, empowering them to take the lead in their communities.
- Strategic Fundraising: Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, including direct mail, online giving, email, and social media campaigns that resonate with our audience.
- Donor Engagement: Recommend innovative approaches to engage new donors, retain existing ones, and upgrade past supporters based on data-driven insights.
- Event Planning: Collaborate with the Development Team to plan and execute small and large-scale fundraising events that are both impactful and memorable.
- Progress Tracking: Create reports to track the annual campaign's progress, providing valuable insights to both the department and our volunteers.
- Exceptional Customer Service: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with donors, members, and volunteers, ensuring an exceptional experience for all.

You are a dynamic individual with a passion for youth leadership and a desire to advance your career in fundraising and nonprofits. You’ll thrive in this role if you possess:
- Proven experience in managing and achieving the goals of an annual grassroots campaign.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, coupled with excellent presentation abilities.
- Strong event planning skills with keen attention to detail.
- Experience working with large volunteer groups and committees.
- The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
- Willingness and ability to travel (including by car) to all regions within Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital as needed.
Preferred qualifications include familiarity with DonorPerfect or similar donor management databases and proficiency in email marketing platforms like Constant Contact. Preference may be given for candidates with knowledge and experience in Girl Scouting, including previous volunteer roles or having earned the Gold Award.

The starting salary for this position is $52,000.
